"S-Scape Ground", Furniture Design POSH Excellent Award, Hong Kong Design Institute
Escape routes exist in every building. Like escape routes, <S-Scape Ground> is an escape ground essential for every place to facilitate people to have a break and escape from the ordinary world. It is an ad-hoc green slope which can be set up anytime anywhere by oneself.
Inspired by the rotating table commonly seen in chinese restaurants.
Regardless of its large size, <S-Scape Ground> can be transported by oneself by simply rotating it.
“S-” is spinnable
<S-Scape Ground> can be spun or kept stable. In “Spinning Mode”, one will be free from the ordinary orientation, sense of gravity, and pre-set postures. One will be temporarily detached from the ordinary world. <S-Scape Ground> remodel one’s built-in spatial perception. In “Piazza Mode”, when kept stable, <S-Scape Ground> acts as a green slope for lounging. The design borrow the same degree of slope of Piazza Del Campo, Sienna, which is regarded as one of Europe's greatest medieval squares.
<S-Scape Ground> is an innovative device for community use, social gathering, lounging, etc. This device enhances motion and different resting postures when laying on it. It creates a communal focal point in a motionless space.
